BOOKS I WANT TO READ AGAIN // top ten tuesday

top ten tuesday is a weekly book meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in june of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in january of 2018.

i feel like i’ve been rereading quite a bit this year because i haven’t been buying any new books lately. it’s probably due to COVID-19 that i haven’t been going to bookstores much. i actually love rereading books, hence it’s always a constant struggle to decide whether i should pick up a new book or reread old favourites. anyway, here are the top ten books/series i want to read again.

the mortal instruments by cassandra clare

i’ve been doing this thing lately where i reread basic/popular YA books (e.g hunger games, the selection) to see if i still love them. and so i want to read TMI again to see whether i still like them. i’ve only read this series once haha (and it was probably like 4 or 5 years ago) compared to my numerous rereads of TID. i’m actually currently reading city of bones right now!! i’ll probably write reviews for memories sake so you can keep an eye out for that 🙂

the dark artifices by cassandra clare

continuing with the shadowhunter books, the dark artifices is another one i want to read again. i feel like the main reason i’m doing this is so that when i ~finally~ read chain of gold, i’ll remember what happened in the other books. and honestly, i don’t remember much about TDA oops.

the wrath and the dawn duology by renee ahdieh

i absolutely LOVE this duology, especially the first book. i’m pretty sure i read the wrath and the dawn at least three times before the rose and the dagger came out. and that was in 2015. so it would be interesting to see if i still love this story. oh and there’s a webtoon out for this, which is so cool??

fangirl by rainbow rowell

i’ve always had mixed feelings about this book, but that’s probably because i read it when i was like twelve, so i couldn’t really relate to the characters. i want to give this another try though.

the odyssey by homer

honestly, the only reason i bought this book was because the cover was really pretty (not the one in the photo). oh and also i liked greek mythology. the thing with classics is that i always somehow zone out while i’m reading them so i don’t actually remember what’s going on. hopefully, if i reread the odyssey, i might actually understand it.

stalking jack the ripper series by kerri maniscalco

it’s really the first two books in the series because that’s all i’ve read so far. okay two reasons: one, i feel like i convinced myself i love these books because a lot of people said it’s good but now i want to see how i really feel about them; two, i want to continue with the rest of the series but i don’t remember the plot that much (this has become a recurring theme lol).

legend and prodigy by marie lu

i really want to finish this trilogy but i had a reading slump while reading champion (the third book) so i never finished it. so! i’m hoping to read the entire trilogy at one go (sometime soon i hope). i also wrote a review for legend if you’re interested HAHA (it’s like one of my only two posts in 2019).

tiny pretty things by sona charaipotra and dhonielle clayton

the show is coming out soon on netflix and i had no idea until i saw the trailer omg. ok but based on what i saw from the trailer, i don’t think they’re strictly following the book’s plot. i might be wrong though, given that i read it like two years ago. anyway, i want to reread this before the show comes out so i can watch it. plus, rereading this means i can finally read the sequel shiny broken pieces.

miss peregrine’s home for peculiar children by ransom riggs

i read this at the beginning of this year but i kept zoning out while reading so i think i’ll reread this before continuing on with the rest of the series.

ash princess by laura sebastian

my impression of this was that the plot’s pretty basic so i didn’t think i would want to continue reading the rest of the books (they haven’t been published when i read ash princess). i even sold my copy of ash princess lmao. but now that the other two books are out, i’m actually curious to see how the plot would progress.

and that’s it! i don’t think i’ll actually finish rereading everything on this list anytime soon, but at least now i have a list to remind me. also, i just realised i have five books/series each for books i want to reread for fun, and books i need to reread in order to continue on with the series hahaha.

do you like rereading books? what are some books you want to read again?

I’d really like to try reading The Odyssey again sometime. The last time I read it was in high school, and I think I’d connect much better with it now.
